Northwind SaaS — A SaaS site that pays back the ad spend
Northwind was pouring money into paid ads that landed on a marketing site nobody understood. We rewrote the positioning, rebuilt the site around it, and cut the cost of acquiring a trial by more than a third.

1. The site was talking to no one in particular
The old homepage led with a generic "powerful analytics for modern teams" line — the kind of copy every SaaS uses because it's safe. It also converted like every other SaaS site: slowly, expensively, and mostly by accident.
We interviewed five recent customers, pulled the exact phrases they used to describe the pain, and rewrote the entire top of funnel around one specific buyer: a growth lead at a Series A company drowning in dashboards.
2. One promise, proved three ways
The new homepage led with a sharp, testable promise, then backed it up with three kinds of proof stacked in order: a real product screenshot, a numbers-driven customer story, and a short logo bar of teams already using it.
- Hero: one promise, one CTA, one supporting line — nothing else.
- Product section shot from real usage, not a marketing render.
- Customer proof with actual metrics, not vague adjectives.
- Pricing page rewritten around outcomes, not feature checklists.
3. Onboarding that finished the sale
Ads and landing pages only get you the click. The trial has to finish the job. We shortened onboarding from nine steps to four, defaulted the most-loved feature on first login, and added a single "first win" moment inside the first two minutes.
4. Same ad spend, cheaper customers
Six weeks after launch, trial-to-paid conversion climbed noticeably and blended CAC dropped 38%. The paid channels didn't change. The site and the first-run experience did.
SaaS growth isn't just an ads problem. If the site and onboarding don't respect the visitor's time, no channel will ever be cheap enough.
